About

A small bird shop from Anchorage

Feather & Field is a small online shop run from Anchorage, Alaska. We put old bird art on everyday coffee mugs: a cardinal, a blue jay, a chickadee, a goldfinch, a hummingbird, a robin, a snowy owl and a ptarmigan, Alaska's state bird. See the Bird Mugs.

Where the art comes from

Every design is a real print from the 1820s and 1830s: hand-colored engravings made by Robert Havell after John James Audubon's paintings for The Birds of America. The images come from the National Gallery of Art in Washington, which shares them in the public domain so anyone can use them. We crop and lay them out for a mug, and leave the old paper tone and hand coloring as they are. The museum doesn't sponsor this shop; we're just glad they share the collection.

How your mug is made

Nothing is made ahead of time. Each mug is printed in the USA by our print partner after you order it, then shipped to you, so allow time for printing plus shipping. You'll get tracking once your order ships. Shipping is free to the lower 48, DC and Alaska. See our Shipping Policy for times.

If something goes wrong

Mugs are ceramic, and once in a while one breaks on the way. Send us a photo within 30 days and we'll send a new one free, or refund you. See our Refund Policy.
